Road to 1000 Democratic Ideas: Week Three Recap

Today, we’re wrapping up the third week of the “Road to 1000 Democratic Ideas” tour, and the imaginative ideas keep on coming.  From Richmond County to Erie County and everywhere in between, New Yorkers are brimming with novel ways to solve the problems we’re all too familiar with.

If you want to add your voice to that chorus calling for reform, click here and submit your own idea today!

Here’s the latest batch of randomly selected ideas from the road, naming the county where the idea came from.

Which one do you think is the most intriguing?  Leave a comment on our facebook page or send a tweet to @nydems and join the conversation!

  • Yates – Build new wastewater treatment facilities around the Finger Lakes to protect our water supply and preserve this vital natural resource.
  • Onondoga – Create an annual agricultural research prize to spur innovation and entrepreneurship in Upstate farm communities.
  • Cortland – Earmark a portion of the sales tax on gallery purchases to support arts across New York State.
  • Queens – Rethink mandates requiring counties to administer certain components of Medicaid.  This decentralizes healthcare, raises costs, and makes the entire system less efficient.
  • Monroe – Establish a new commitment to community colleges and technical schools, which can provide a realistic alternative to four-year colleges for many high school graduates and at a substantially lower cost.

The ideas expressed above and in other posts are from ordinary New Yorkers and do not necessarily reflect the views of the New York Democratic Committee or any of its candidates.
