For the last three weeks, we’ve been crisscrossing New York tapping into the knowledge of everyday citizens to find original solutions to our state’s familiar problems.  We’ve watched as hundreds of suggestions have come pouring in, and we’re not done yet.  

Today we kick off the fourth week of the tour in Western New York, with stops in three more counties.

• Niagara: Use targeted incentives to bring back-office jobs to Upstate New York.  Instead of out-sourcing overseas, the state can “in-source” jobs and fuel economic growth in the region.
• Fulton: Study the types of local government consolidations that will generate the greatest efficiencies and then encourage those governments to consolidate.
• Montgomery: Restrict the use of limousines by state personnel on official business.
• Cattaraugus: Establish a prize for the agency that reduces energy and paper usage the most on a year-to-year and cumulative basis.
• Allegany: Increase the scrutiny of landlords who receive state subsidies to ensure the proper upkeep of their property.
