Matt Doheny (NY-23): Social Security Is The “Worst, Worst, Worst Investment” We Could Make

New York State Democratic Party spokesman Simon Brandler issued the following statement after Republican Matt Doheny (NY-23) slammed Social Security as a bad investment and voiced support for Social Security privatization:

“Matt Doheny’s claim that Social Security is the ‘worst, worst, worst investment’ should send a shiver down the spine of every North Country senior.  Doheny’s Wall Street buddies might be excited by the prospect of privatizing the most successful social program in history, but his attack on Social Security shows seniors just how out of touch he is.  Someone who slams Social Security as a waste of resources, someone who would back away from the sacred promise made to older Americans, as Doheny would, has no business representing North Country seniors in Congress.”

Matt Doheny said Social Security "unfortunately is probably — as somebody who knows a little bit about finances — the worst, worst, worst investment you can ever" make. [Watertown Daily Times, 8/26/10, click]
