Field Organizer


Job Description: The New York State Democratic Committee seeks field organizers to join our outreach efforts across Central New York, the Hudson Valley, and Long Island. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, creative thinkers who are dedicated to electing Democrats up and down the ballot.

The Operations Director will:

  • Implement all aspects of the voter contact program in assigned areas
  • Train, recruit, and manage a team of volunteers and interns
  • Attend local events to recruit volunteers, build new community relationships, and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Submit nightly and weekly reports of voter contact and volunteer recruitment numbers.
  • Meet daily and weekly voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals.

Ideal Experience and Characteristics:

  • Volunteer or internship experience in a campaign environment, or a history of issue advocacy and activism
  • Existing relationships in Central New York, the Hudson Valley, or on Long Island is a plus
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and the skills needed to work meaningfully with those who are culturally different from the self; a commitment to fostering a positive working environment grounded in the ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Highly organized and independent work style; a strong ability to multitask and communicate
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to build relationships, listen, collaborate, and lead with respect and professionalism.
  • Willingness to work unconventional hours

Pay Range: $5,200 - 5,300/month + benefits. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

Regional Voter Protection Manager


Location: Central New York
Start Date: August 15th

About NY Dems Voter Protection: The NY Dems Voter Protection Team is committed to safeguarding the democratic rights of voters across New York State by ensuring smooth and fair elections, addressing voting concerns, and providing accurate and up-to-date voting information.

Job Description: The NY Dems Voter Protection Team is seeking regional voter protection managers to oversee and implement regional voter protection efforts across Central New York this Fall. The regional voter protection manager plays a critical role in safeguarding the rights of voters within the specified region by promoting fair voting practices, working closely with local teams, recruiting, training, and assigning voter protection volunteers, and assisting in coordinating the legal response to voting issues under the direction of the voter protection director. 

The Regional Voter Protection Manager will:

  • Implement all aspects of the regional voter protection program in assigned region. 
    Recruit, train, assign, and serve as a resource for poll observers and roving volunteers. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with county stakeholders, including boards of election commissioners and personnel, party leadership, campaigns, and partner organizations.
  • Organize, attend, and lead local events to advance our programmatic objectives and recruit volunteers. 
  • Ensure volunteers are equipped with the appropriate resources and manage the certification process. 
  • Stay up-to-date on statewide election law and county-level election administration procedures.
     

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least one cycle of organizing experience, managing experience preferred.
  • Goal-oriented, self-disciplined with a demonstrated ability to multitask and
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends. Must be available during the full early voting period and election day hours. 
  • Access to reliable transportation and willing to travel across the assigned region.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, VAN/Votebuilder, and Mobilize. 
  • Culturally competent and able to lead with empathy. 
  • Firm understanding of voter suppression’s disproportionate impact on communities of color and limited English proficiency voters with a demonstrated commitment to upholding democratic principles and protecting voters' rights. 
     

Pay Range: $5,200 - $6,000/month + benefits. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.
