ICYMI: ZELDIN CAMPAIGN CO-CHAIR HIT WITH ETHICS COMPLAINT
NEW YORK, NY - Recent reporting has revealed that Lee Zeldin’s campaign co-chair, Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley, is once again under fire for her involvement in Zeldin’s campaign –– this time from local members of her community.
After Doorley charged Zeldin’s attacker with rare and surprisingly lenient charges, a Monroe County resident filed a complaint against Doorley for violating the ethics guidelines set by the District Attorneys Association of New York. Here’s what people across New York are reading about Doorley and Zeldin’s conflict of interest:
- ABC13 WHAM: “Doorley had said she was at the campaign event to see her friend, Zeldin and she has not endorsed him for governor. However, the ‘concerned community members’ who submitted this letter take issue with the fact that Doorley had agreed to being a co-chair for Zeldin's campaign this spring, before her spokesperson said she backed out at the advisement of the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York on April 28.”
- Democrat & Chronicle: “I’m troubled by the repeated ethical lapses by our District Attorney," Brazee, a Democrat, said in a statement… “DAs are supposed to be fair-minded and balanced, but it’s impossible to do that when they’re using their position for political purposes.”
- "Politico: “A complaint filed with the state court system seeks to suspend Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley from practicing law, alleging ‘blatant ethical violations’ for her involvement in Zeldin’s campaign for governor — involvement that has recently come under scrutiny.”
- Spectrum News: “Doorley's office later charged the man accused in the attack with a non-bail eligible offense and was released before being taken into federal custody. Zeldin used the incident to blame changes made to the state's bail laws… Brazee is asking for Doorley to be suspended from practicing law.”
