On the Issues: Lee Zeldin's and Andrew Giuliani's Records on Abortion
For Immediate Release: June 13, 2022
NEW YORK, NY: In tonights debate, Lee Zeldin and Andrew Giuliani made it clear that they would do everything in their power as governor to ban abortion and overturn New Yorkers' constitutional right to make decisions about their own health.
On the campaign trail, both candidates have repeatedly supported measures to restrict abortion rights:
In 2020, Zeldin joined House Republicans calling on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade by signing on to an amicus brief demanding the court overturn the Supreme Court's decision. A few weeks ago, Zeldin joined the pro-life right to life group and said he would appoint a pro-life health commissioner and provide anti-abortion advocates with "open door access" to his administration.
After a draft of the potential SCOTUS ruling on Roe v. Wade was leaked, Andrew Giuliani stated that Roe is fundamentally flawed and that he, "is not afraid to say that he is pro-life."
