On the Issues: Lee Zeldin's and Andrew Giuliani's Records on Guns

For Immediate Release: June 13, 2022

NEW YORK, NY: In tonight’s debate Lee Zeldin and Andrew Giuliani continued to promote NRA talking points and their dangerous views on common sense gun safety laws. Zeldin and Giuliani once again showed voters that they are completely out-of-touch with New Yorkers views on public safety and would let more guns flood into our communities and into the hands of dangerous criminals if elected.

Voters need to be reminded that their records on guns has directly undermined the safety of New Yorkers:

Lee Zeldin has an "A" rating from the NRA, supported a movement to repeal a 110-year concealed carry law, and as a state legislator, voted against the New York SAFE Act which strengthened gun safety laws and prohibited assault weapons in New York. In Rochester last month, Zeldin said New York State should "repeal red flag laws" and that people should "have a right to stand [their] ground."

In the wake of the Buffalo shooting, Andrew Giuliani said that New York State should not strengthen its gun control laws. Giuliani continues to avoid the issue of what he would do for specific gun safety legislation and "disagrees with many of the Red Flag Laws that are out there."
