Statement from NYS Democratic Chairman on Commemorating the Police Officers who Died During the January 6th Insurrection at the Capitol
For Immediate Release: January 6, 2022
NASSAU COUNTY, NY: New York State Democratic Party Chairman Jay S. Jacobs has released the following statement:
"In commemorating the fallen police officers who died defending our Democracy on January the 6th, we must recognize that still today – perhaps even more so – our Democracy is at risk. Whether we remain a Democracy or devolve into fascist state remains, unfortunately, an open question. Every citizen and especially every elected official must decide where they stand. There is no middle ground. Every elected official and political party leader must answer two fundamental questions:
1. Do you believe that Joe Biden is the legitimately elected President of the United States?
2. Do you condemn the events on Jan 6th at the Capitol as an insurrection?"
