Statement on President Biden’s Decision to Withdraw From the Race

I admired Joe Biden when he was a United States Senator. I thought his selection as Barack Obama’s Vice Presidential pick was perfect for our country. I have admired Joe Biden’s decency, honesty, and his demonstrated courage in the face of the most difficult of personal adversities. Joe Biden has been one of our most successful and impactful Presidents – certainly one of the most productive in the past 60 years – and I have admired the job he has done under the most difficult of circumstances.

I have never admired Joe Biden more than I do today. Voluntarily ceding the nomination and forgoing a chance to serve for another four years in the job that he did so well in and spent a lifetime dreaming of attaining, is as noble an act as ever recorded in America’s political history. Joe Biden’s selflessness; his putting country and party above his own personal desires, places him in the category of every great political leader since George Washington set the standard some 225 years ago.

New York House Republicans Stand By Convicted Felon, Donald Trump

NEW YORK – Yesterday, Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 felony charges. The Republican Party is nominating a convicted criminal as its presidential candidate, and New York House Republicans are doubling down on their support. While New York Republicans claim to be for law and order, they were quick to come to the defense of their boss, convicted felon Donald Trump.

New York’s most vulnerable House Republicans have all endorsed Donald Trump: Rep. Nick LaLota, Rep. Anthony D’Esposito, Rep. Mike Lawler, Rep. Marc Molinaro, and Rep. Brandon Williams. Within minutes of the court’s ruling, the members rushed to Trump’s defense, making it clear that they would continue to pledge their allegiance to a convicted felon.

NEW YORK – Today, President Biden joined Governor Hochul and Senator Schumer in Syracuse, NY to announce $6 billion in funding under the CHIPS and Science Act for Micron. Micron’s total investment will be the largest private investment in New York history and was made possible by Governor Hochul’s Green CHIPS legislation and the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act which are providing federal grants and tax credits.

New York Democrats’ support of the CHIPS and Science Act paved the path for a new generation of growth and prosperity for Central New York and today's announcement is a major step forward in Micron’s progress. Micron’s historic planned investment of up to $100 billion over the next two decades is expected to create nearly 50,000 New York jobs and millions of dollars in community benefits and ensures the United States is a leader in global chip manufacturing.

REMINDER: New York House Republicans Have Extensive Anti-Abortion Records

NEW YORK – This week, Donald Trump once again made it clear that he is responsible and proud of his role in overturning Roe v. Wade and the resulting abortion bans that have taken hold in over 20 states since. New York’s battleground House Republicans, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, Brandon Williams, Anthony D'Esposito, and Nick LaLota, have all endorsed Donald Trump – aligning themselves with the former president and his record of dismantling abortion rights and freedom for millions of women.

While New York’s House Republicans attempt to hide their anti-abortion records on the campaign trail, they all stand with Donald Trump and have already voted to restrict reproductive rights while in Congress.

MAGA Mike Sapraicone Floats Seven Week Abortion Ban

NEW YORK – In a recent interview on 710 WOR, MAGA Mike Sapraicone, GOP candidate for U.S. Senate, proposed the possibility of a seven week abortion ban. When asked about his stance on abortion, Sapraicone rejected New York’s current abortion protections calling New York’s laws “ridiculous,” referred to some abortions as "murder," and floated the seven week ban.

“News flash to MAGA Mike, New Yorker’s overwhelmingly support women's reproductive freedom and the ability to make their own health care decisions,” said NYS Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs. “MAGA Mike’s idea of a seven week ban falls right in line with Trump’s plans for a national abortion ban and is the kind of extreme policy that common sense New Yorkers have time and again rejected. While MAGA Mike is just introducing himself to New Yorkers, his recent rant rejecting New York’s abortion laws and floating a seven week ban tells New Yorkers all they need to know about his extremist views.”

Statement From Chairman Jay S. Jacobs on Redistricting

We owe it to the public to carefully review these maps, especially in light of serious concerns being raised by various communities of interest.

“The fact that Lee Zeldin - who undermined the foundation of our democracy by trying to overturn the will of the voters on January 6 - endorsed this map should give us all pause and require a thorough examination, which the legislature will now do.”
