ICYMI: CITY & STATE: LEE ZELDIN FACES CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FOR FRAUDULENT SIGNATURES

NEW YORK, NY - Public scrutiny of Lee Zeldin’s campaign has ratcheted up another level. In the latest development of Zeldin’s petition fraud scandal, New York Senate Elections Committee Chair Zellnor Myrie has called for a criminal investigation into the Zeldin campaign’s submission of 11,000 fake signatures to get on the Independence Party ballot line, a serious offense that could result in multiple charges, including felonies.

Yesterday, Senator Myrie filed a complaint with Albany County District Attorney David Soares: “In my role as Chair of the Senate Elections Committee, I have not hesitated to defend our system of elections from spurious allegations of fraud,” Myrie said. “However, when actual election fraud appears to have occurred, as it does in this case, it is essential for the public trust that potential violations are investigated fully and swiftly.”

ICYMI: ZELDIN CAMPAIGN CO-CHAIR HIT WITH ETHICS COMPLAINT

NEW YORK, NY - Recent reporting has revealed that Lee Zeldin’s campaign co-chair, Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley, is once again under fire for her involvement in Zeldin’s campaign –– this time from local members of her community.

After Doorley charged Zeldin’s attacker with rare and surprisingly lenient charges, a Monroe County resident filed a complaint against Doorley for violating the ethics guidelines set by the District Attorneys Association of New York.

CHAIRMAN JAY S. JACOBS CALLS ON ZELDIN CAMPAIGN TO CONDEMN NEW YORK YOUNG REPUBLICAN’S FAR-RIGHT GUESTS MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE AND JACK POSOBIEC

NEW YORK, NY - Today, New York State Democratic Party Chairman Jay S. Jacobs called on Lee Zeldin to immediately condemn the New York Young Republicans for selecting known extremists Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Jack Posobiec to headline their 110th Annual Gala hosted by the New York Young Republican Club, a group that Zeldin formally joined as a member earlier this year. Both Greene and Posobiec have ties to white supremacist organizations and anti-government militia groups and have espoused hate-filled rhetoric that places them on the fringe of the far-right movement.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is notorious for pushing dangerous conspiracy theories, including questioning whether a plane flew into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, suggesting that a 2018 wildfire in California was caused by a space laser owned by a Jewish family, claiming in multiple social media posts that several school shooting massacres were “false flag” operations, and staunchly supporting and promoting Qanon’s dangerous, baseless claims.

ICYMI: AMNY: ASSEMBLYMAN JON RIVERA REFLECTS ON EL PASO SHOOTING, WARNS OF REPUBLICAN PRO-GUN AGENDA

NEW YORK, NY - Today, on the third anniversary of the El Paso shooting in Texas, Buffalo native and Assemblyman Jon Rivera discussed the parallels between both tragedies that were committed by xenophobic white supremacists and highlighted the stark contrast between Democratic and Republican priorities on gun violence.

“The parallels between the mass shootings in El Paso and Buffalo are stark: people of color expect to run their errands freely and safely, only to be met with hatred and gunfire,” said Assemblymember Jon Rivera in AM New York. Assemblyman Rivera continues, “If elected in November, Zeldin would erase the progress we’ve made to protect New Yorkers from the scourge of gun violence.”

ZELDIN VOTES AGAINST ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN, ENDANGERS NEW YORKERS

NEW YORK, NY - On Friday, Lee Zeldin once again put New Yorkers in danger by voting against common sense gun safety legislation that would ban some of the most deadly assault-style firearms and high-capacity magazines. The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022 with Republicans including Buffalo representative and Zeldin’s colleague, Chris Jacobs, voting yes.

Rep. Chris Jacobs said assault weapons “have been proven to cause an immense amount of damage quickly,” and, “we have a duty to provide for the safety of all Americans. These weapons do not belong in our communities.”

100 DAYS OUT: LEE ZELDIN CONTINUES TO FALL IN LINE WITH FAR-RIGHT EXTREMISTS

NEW YORK, NY - Sunday marks 100 days until the November 8th election. As we move closer to the general election, voters will see Lee Zeldin continuing to embrace a far-right agenda that is dangerously out of touch with New York' values. As Donald Trump’s “point man” in Congress, Zeldin has repeatedly echoed the former president’s extreme rhetoric on the campaign trail and has promised to bring the same MAGA policies to New York.

As we count the days to November, Democrats will be getting the word out to voters: Lee Zeldin’s extremism will take New York backward. Here’s a quick look at some of Zeldin’s most extreme positions:

ICYMI: MSNBC’S CHRIS HAYES EXPOSES ZELDIN’S HYPOCRISY, CALLS OUT HIS “FLAGRANT PROPAGANDA”

NEW YORK, NY - Last night on MSNBC, Chris Hayes exposed the striking conflicts of interest between Lee Zeldin and Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley, in the case of Zeldin’s attacker, David Jakubonis. Hayes discussed the impropriety of Zeldin’s ties to Doorley, who — in violation of ethics guidelines — served as his campaign co-chair, and the rare, more lenient charges she gave Jakubonis, giving Zeldin the opportunity to scapegoat Democrats for political gain.

But, as Hayes asked, “Who is the prosecutor who only charged [Jakubonis] with attempted second-degree assault?” The answer: none other than Zeldin’s close personal friend and political ally, Monroe County DA Sandra Doorley.

AS DONALD TRUMP STUMPS IN WASHINGTON, LEE ZELDIN ECHOES THE SAME EXTREMIST TUNE IN NEW YORK

NEW YORK, NY - Today, disgraced former President Donald Trump will return to Washington, D.C., to speak at the America First Agenda Summit and promote his far-right policies in a vain attempt to jump-start his 2024 campaign.

Meanwhile in New York, Trump’s MAGA followers like Republican gubernatorial nominee Lee Zeldin continue echoing the former president’s extreme rhetoric and plan on employing the same playbook if elected in November. While some tune into the Trump circus, here is a reminder of how Lee Zeldin has aligned himself with Trump’s dangerous agenda:

ICYMI: DAILY NEWS: LEE ZELDIN’S “PROBLEMATIC PROSECUTION”

NEW YORK, NY - Recent reporting in the New York Daily News editorial board exposes the glaring ethical concerns of Lee Zeldin’s campaign co-chair and Monroe County district attorney, Sandra Doorley, whose office charged Zeldin’s attacker, David Jakubonis, with an offense that was not bail eligible, causing Jakubonis to be released.

Conveniently, Lee Zeldin capitalized on the lax charges, but the Daily News report now raises red flags regarding Zeldin and Doorley's political relationship, which is not permitted under the ethics guidelines of the District Attorneys Association of New York. What’s raising more questions is the unusual step of charging Jakubonis with a lesser crime when the Monroe County district attorney's office is known for pressing heavier charges than other counties.

NEW YORK, NY - Today, the New York State Democratic Party launched a new video highlighting Republican nominee for governor Lee Zeldin’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and promote far-right conspiracy theories in New York State

The video depicts the violence during January 6th, Lee Zeldin’s speech on the House Floor objecting to the certification, and his ties to far-right extremist groups like the Oath Keepers and Long Island Loud Majority –– who were both in attendance during the deadly insurrection.
